Minicraft 1/350 Titanic WIP

The deck is all pre-cut and very nice quality.  I'm not aware of other manufacturers as I don't usually work in this subject area.  There are others on this forum that can advise better than I.  I've got to reboot this build, I've been doing too many group builds ;)  Look forward to your buid.

Beautiful job! I have the same kit that I bought in 1985. It's gonna be a project nice retired in a year or so. I was curious on the wood deck from Scaledeck. Is it precut or did you have to cut it out? Any thoughts on other brands of f wood decks? This one sounds to be Cadillac as far as accuracy and quality. Sounds quite thin too. Thank you, Jim 

Looks great. I had the same experience with the warped decks.

After a night of wrestling with the super fine rigging I finaly have the main deck on.  The main deck had a bit of warping so I glued in sections but I think I have a workable ship!

All I can say about that first link is WOW!  Not sure if he would do the lighting differently today with all the SMDs and micro LEDs, but that is some incredibly fine work.  The attention to detail is beyond astounding.  Makes me want to build one.

Hey Tony thanks for the links.  Very helpful.  I started doing the rigging for the main deck and the material provided is finer than human hair! Difficult to work with but probably has a nice scale appearance.

I've been on hold waiting for these Pontos pedestals as I'm at the point of adding the main deck.  They arrived this week along with a few tiny! little folks to add to the deck.

Little more work on the Titanic - I bought Gorilla clear glue for the wood decks.  Scaledecks reccomends Gorilla wood glue so I have that on order.  I did a bit of painting before putting the decks down.  Slow going as they take a while to try and require every clamp I own!  Any advice on putting these decks down will be greatly appreciated.  They fit pretty well all in all.

I am not a ship builder either, and kudos to you for jumping into it. And I think it WILL BE interesting.

This looks good so far. Ship builder too, less talented than Don.

I'd go back and repair the red. You wont be able to do that once you start adding detail, and you will wish you did. No rush.

Paint all of the PE before gluing it on. It just can't be done later for railings, esp. with all of that wood deck.

I am a model ship builder, and my ship projects frequently take months.  So don't feel bad about taking your time to do it right.  In fact, I have a heller 1:100 Soleil Royale on a shelf that was started over fifteen years go.  Lots of rigging on that kit, so it is going slow.
