Steve, I rally gave you a beatcha picture so i could show my plastic rails. They are the best to make. They glue easy with any liquid glue & look to scale on 1/144. Also on lights , there is a flexable big black ( or white) light on Amazon that takes regular LED bulbs. I use either 60 or 75 watts . They are cool & give better light than a flourescent.

They are by Globe Electric & many others & are $16 US. I have used them for over 50 years & the LED bulb now is great & cool.. I hate florescents. Make sure you get the one that takes bulbs as I got one for reading, unknown to me, that had some little bulb in it . It does work, but I would rather have a bulb. It would be no good for modeling. The right one clamps on your table & I use 2 of them over my models.

You really do super work ,,,,, Gene

Beatcha Steve, I just started this yesterday. I did use .020 plastic rod for the posts & .015 for the rails. Plastic rod s easy to work with & easy to glue.

I really started it a week ago. ho ho ho    Gene

One of the best novels of WWII that I know of is "The Cruel Sea" by Nicholas Monsarrat. "this is the story of the British ships Compass Rose and Saltash and of their desparate cat-and-mouse game with Nazi U-boats. First published to great acclaim in 1951, The Cruel Sea remains a classic novel of endurance and daring."

The Compass Rose is a flower class corvette. There was also a British film by the same name made in the 50's. If you can find it watch it!

Besides the Edwards PE sets there are also other 3-D printed parts made by Shapeway and L'arsenal

absolutely!

The movie used a flower class that was in the Hellenic Navy, I forget which one.

Rose is my build, as “launched“. The book never uses her number as she was a fictitious ship and a clever play on Flower as a name. I settled on K49 which is on her in the film.

Theres also one up in Novia Scotia that has excellent walk around on line.

and there’s the escort leader, marvelous name, the destroyer “Viperous”.

Works for me too. I'm a member there but was not logged in when I used the link and it still opened up OK.

It works for me when I try. You may have to become a member of the Britmodeller form, which is free. It is  under the "work in progress -maritime" section and is called "Revell Flower Class Corvette 1/144" done in 2016.

That’s good to know. Looking at my model I did use the draft markings. The ones at the bow are pretty prominent too.

They did Silver a little so be prepared. Also I suggest you test fit them as they follow the bow curve and are fiddly. But that’s a ways downstream.

Hello!

Revell tells you on their web page to post spare parts requests here:

ersatzteile@revell-shop.de

I have tried it about a year ago and it worked just fine. I hope they will also replace your decals. Good luck with your build and have a nice day

Paweł

Hi Steve,

Well, I thought hey I can send a set to my mate. I made my own/ handpainted numbers as my ship is gark gray.

Clod that I am I cannot find them. I did manage to find a scribing tool that had gone missing, just in time for another project.

I'll look around some more.

I also bought two of the three Eduard photo etched sets. Really nice but they are slowing things down considerably.

I'd reccomend this book too if you want really good reference info.

It's very model oriented.
