Help !! Big Boo-Boo done in my shop !
Posted by Tanker - Builder on Friday, August 9, 2019 4:05 PM

See;

        I can and do make stupid mistakes. At the time I got it there were no models of the Missouri in 1945 fit. So I thought I would take the New Jersey and back date it.They were Both IOWAS right ?

       So I figured I could have my Missouri that way. Well,I cut All the center decking and part of the aft deck off. Forgot to save the pieces. Well, I Thought I would take it of the shelf of Doom and finish it.

       It was then that I realized i had neither the deck pieces I removed Or the Instruction Book . Then it hit me .You stupid A##%(&@ ! ! can anyone here help this Stupid old man . Money is a problem or I would just go and buy the new Tamiya Missouri in the 1945 fit !

    I still can't but think " What a Doofus ! ! Oh,I guess that means I am human. Tanker-Builder   P.S. I guess if it doesn't get built as a B.B. I would imagine an Aircraft Carrier Hybrid or a Passenger ship Hybrid ,or a Tanker Hybrid? Come to think of it ,If they could hybridize cruisers into carriers ,Why Not an Iowa?

PM sent to you.

Yeah that was dumb, but it might work out.

 Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I can’t help on the instruction booklet, although a couple of sites probably have them available for download, but I might have a spare aft main deck part if that is what you need...

Tank, will a picture of my 1945 MO. help, I built it back in about 85 or so for my best friend. He was the one who got blown out of the water on the first bunch in. I just found out from his son in law that he was carrying a load of UDT guys for the beach.

                 I asked him one time if he ever had battle fatigue & he said no, but I was plenty scared when I was there. My brother took the MO out on her first voyage from Pearl, on the Indiana.

              You weren't any dumber than the rest of us, maybe a little unlucky.

I've been working on the Missouri for a while. Got the big aftermarket Pontos set for it. I have been struggling somewhat so have to work on it then set it aside etc.

Anyway, it is the Tamiya #78018 1/350 scale kit. Has paint schemes for 1944 and 1945.

I've marked up my copy of the instructions, but I can PDF them and send them to you if they are what you need / want.

Send me your e-mail addy.

Yes, I have a spare deck, fore & aft, for a 1/350 Tamiya 1945 Missouri. It’s all yours TB. I just need to find a proper size box for safe mailing.

Kool, Stik;

      What would you need or like in exchange? I have to try to return the favor somehow.

TB,

I have an extra kit that I have used as part of my spare parts bin.  I can send a replacement deck if you still need one.
