WWII Museum (New Orleans) Zoom presentation -- Black May

As late as March 1943, the Allies were in danger of losing the Battle of the Atlantic as German U-boats were sinking Allied shipping at an alarming rate. However, just a few short weeks later in May, technological advances, new tactics, and the bravery of Allied sailors came together and turned the tide against Hitler's U-boats. Tune in and see how the Allies turned the Kriegsmarine's "Happy Time" into a "Black May.”

Tuesday May 19 at 11 am CDT.   See the museum's website for Zoom access. It will be available tomorrow on their Youtube channel tomorrow

Dang it, I have an appointment then. I'll check YouTube though as I'm sure they will upload it.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I remember very little about WW2- things like D-Day, VE and VJ day.  But I do remember a bit about the battle of the Atlantic.  Even in 1944 when I was just beginning to read, there were headlines about this or that ship being torpedoed in the Atlantic. I started to school in 1943, and a lot of discussions among kids about the losses.  I think there was more discussion about that battle than even the latest scores of the ace fighter pilots!
