Garage sale bargain
Posted by Don Stauffer on Thursday, August 27, 2020 10:32 AM

Was at a garage sale recently.  I usually look for books or CDs.  Didn't see anything I wanted, but as I was walking away, a box with a familiar logo caught my eye.  The box was a Tamiya model kit.  Looking closely it was a 1:350 New Jersey.  The sticker on it said ten bucks.  I only had nine, but they agreed to let it go for that.  I asked if it had been started yet, but the people there did not know.  The box was taped but I figured even if it had been started it would be a good deal.  When I got it home I thought the tape sort of looked like original packaging.  Opened it, and it looked like it had never been opened!  Every package still sealed, and cardboard still held hull and deck pieces in their place.

Oh my, that's a STEAL!

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

SWEET !!!  heck, even if it was started, at nine smackers you can't go wrong. I've got to hit more garage sales.

"Why do I do this? Because the money's good, the scenery changes and they let me use explosives, okay?"

SEE!

Now you know why I go to Garage sales and Flea markets. I killed a good bird when I went to my fourth last one. Got a  Heller, Charles De Gaulle  Aircraft Carrier for a Low, Low price. It actually made me nervous afterwards like maybe I had bought a stolen Item?

These Bonus finds are out there. Ya just gotta look. I found a model in the attic of a house that was going to be torn down. The Demolition Foreman told me to keep it! It was an original release of the REVELL Higgins P.T.Boat!

I had gone there to buy and remove some old Wood Rafters for a deck project!

At $9 you can afford a lot of AM for that kit.

And, per Scalemates, there's a tone of it, too

Good score.

Hey, what a deal. You never know what you’ll find at garage sales and flea markets. I good friend of mine gave me a Monogram B-17 that he picked up for $2.00 at a flea market. The previous owner had only painted the cockpit walls. All parts were there.

On the bench: Revell-USS Arizona; Airfix P-51D in 1/72
