I forgot to mention to cut the adhesive with water. This will make the paper damp for you.

I've got a Tamiya 1/700 Yamato in front of me (beautiful kit, by the way). I think bstrump is right. The flags are just printed on plain, thin, non-adhesive paper. Elmer's glue should work fine on it. There's plenty of blank paper surrounding the flags, for experiments.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

Eddie, if these are what I think they are, you apply your adhesive(like white glue) to one side, wrap it around the pole or the line and then fold it onto itself. Heller kits flags are like this. If you make them a little damp as well you can manipulate them into whatever shape you like and give them that "flying" look.

First thing to determine is tye of decal you're using...waterslide or dry transfer...maybe the instructions mention something, or someone else has built the 1/700 Tamiya Yamato.

Here's my suggestion for dry transfer...rub one side of the flag onto a piece of aluminum foil...then trim the foil to the decal...then add the second transfer to the opposite side. I'd give the whole thing a coat of clear once I was done.

For waterslide, simply do the same thing...aluminum foil allows the decal to adhere to something other than itself, and also allows you to 'wave' or curl the flag.

1/700 flag decals issues

ok, I've already posted this on the decals section, and everyone there seems lost...

My Tamiya 1/700 Yamato (first build) flags are on a waxy kind of paper. The decals folks assumed they were rub-on transfers, but were confused as to how this might work on a two sided flag. Do I cut them out, get them wet, and wrap them around???

Thanks everyone.
