Any news on 1/350 CVL's

Looks like 1/350 is heating up with all the recent releases! As someone said on previous postings "it's a great time to be a 1/350 ship modeler"

I'm glad I only came recently to the game.

No news on any CVL that I've heard...there's talk of a CVE though.

What kind of talk?

Injection or resin? When? And which class?

Any CVE's would be good!

L'Arsenal is the only one I have heard of working on a 1/350 CVL. It is however probably not a top priority at the moment.

Now, have I ever been known to divulge specific information prior to the release of a kit?? :-p

Well, there's already a CVE in resin, so chances are I'm not talking about resin...and since the most famous class of CVE is probably the Casablanca Class, chances are that's going to be the one chosen for a new kit sometime in the future.

As for CVL, it's an Independence Class without a doubt, which means a Cleveland hull, and at this point in time, the only folks who produce a Cleveland is Iron Shipwrights, in resin. If you're hoping for it in plastic, chances are we'll see a Cleveland first, since they'd sell more units than a CVL.

Call it...deductive logic.

While I am not one to doubt deductive reasoning could one argue that manufacturers tend to put out models of ships that have been sunk in action etc over those were not ? That's because they have more name recognition and therefore sell better So would a manufacturer be more likely to put out a CVL like the Princeton which was lost than a Clevland CL which never suffered a combat loss ? Of course there were many more cleveland class CL's so maybe they would sell better unless they could get Pres. Bush 1 to sell the CVL's since he flew off one in WW II All makes sense to me !!!

The logic is thus...if someone releases a Cleveland Class cruiser, then the hull is already done for a Independence Class CVL...if the kit is engineered properly, you can build up from the deck and you've got yourself a carrier for not too much additional effort.

Or the logic could be build a CVL you have the hull and you could build a CL off that !

I will defer to superior intellect . In addition it would be more historically correct for a manufacturer to build a CL first then build a CVL just like FDR and the Navy did in WWII
