If you want to build in 1/96 scale, you could get one of the Dean's Marine Tribal kits...

try http://www.hmbc.nl/merk/deans.html

photos of a completed model are at:

Some references....

"British Destroyers, 1892-1953", Edgar J. March plans, photos, hull lines, history (great reference but pricey) 522 pp. oversize

"Destroyer Weapons of World War 2" Peter Hodges and Norman Friedman 188 pages (excellent!)

"Tribal Class Destroyers" Peter Hodges, 1971 - Altmark Publications - probably the best source for photos and info at a reasonable price - 80 pp.

"The Tribals", Martin H. Brice, 1971 - individual ship's histories & photos

"HMS Cossack Tribal Class Destroyer / Warship Profile #2, Lt. David Lyon, 1970 49 pp.

"The Kelly's, British J,K & N Class Destroyers of World War II", Christopher Langtree, 2002, 221 pages oversize (different class, but shared common equipment, excellent book - wish a aimilar book was available for the Tribals)

I presume that you are already familiar with the Haida (http://hmcshaida.ca/) and the books available through their shop.

Best Regards... and have fun

Thanks for all the help. I managed to find 1/96 plans of the 1944 HMCS Haida Tribal Class Destroyer at Hobby Centre in Ottawa. They should be in my hands within the week. Again, thank for all the help. I assure you that questions will be forthcoming when I begin the build sometime in early Feb.

Lou,

There are a variety of published sources with three view drawings. Do you have a specific ship in mind? specific timeframe? There were considerable changes made over the years. Also, what scale are you building in? what fidelity are you looking for?

and more importantly... how much money and/or time are you willing to invest? (255 pounds sterling will get you a killer 1/96 scale kit of HMS Cossack)

Basically, you need a set of plans...I would recommend Taubman's Plan Service.

G'uday Lou,
The company that produces the Model Boats magazine has a set of plans for HMS Cossack an early RN Tribal. This is a good starting point. If, as I suspect , you wish to build an RCN ship you may have to search out a photograph or two. There several books out there on the various Tribals including the Australian trio. One of the books is a Warship Special "Super Destroyers". It includes, among others, the Tribals with drawings from concept through to all of the later variations including HMCS Haidia.
I hope that this may be of use to you.

Can anyone direct me to a 3 view drawing of a WW II Tribal Class Destroyer. I plan on building a solid wood model.
