I-Go Japanese submarines

Well, I'm learning more about this as I go. I was fascinated by the size of some of the I-boats, especially the looooonng monsters that I've seen some photos of. Anyway, I got some information to get me started, and I am sure that I'll get some more.

I was hoping that there would be some more material out there, and I was rewarded. I am interested in some of the less-well-publicized aspects of WW II; the Russians and the Japanese are my cup of tea.

With the exception of the smaller coastal boats which received an HA- designation, all IJN subs were I-boats. The designation is similar to the SS- system we used on USN boats, it carried across classes.
