Considering that the interior is based on what might be called "artistic license" and by no means accurate at all, the best thing would probably to finish the hull and exterior fittings and paint the whole thing black. It would be better than letting it go to waste.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

What to do with this old kit?

A while back while visiting my grandparents my dad came across an old model kit of his. It is an old Renwal Blueprint Models 1/200 USS George Washington nuclear sub. Now, I'm not sure what to do with this thing. The instructions are still there, a bit yellowed, but still perfectly readable. The kit was partially assembled and painted, but the cement was so old and brittle that I found it very easy to take the assembled pieces apart without damaging them. This made it a lot easier to catalog what pieces were there and which were missing. As it turns out, about half the parts are MIA. Fortunately, all the large components (like decks and bulkheads) are still there. It's the little things that are missing. Tiny lockers, tables, some torpedoes, some missile tubes, and other small pieces are missing (I still can't believe they had a piece of meat to hang in the kitchen in the parts list!). In short, a lot of scratchbuilding is going to be needed to salvage this thing. My question is, is it worth doing? I put it to you, the more experienced ship modelers, what I should do with this model. Should I work it to completion when my skills are up to the task? Should I use it as spare/scrap plastic for paint practice? Should I just let it sit by as a "museum" piece?
