Have only dry fitted the deck on mine, but found large gaps that could be a pain to fill without losing detail on the deck. No doubt something to do with the deck being removable for motorising it.
If you fit both the bow & stern deck sections tight against the bow & stern, when you come to drop the centre section in, you will have a gap of a few mm each side which doesn't look fun to fill. I am probably going to butt them all up tight against each other, running from the bow & leave a single larger gap to fill at the curvature of the stern. I accept that the rear turrets may be a few scale feet too far forward, but I will take this for the easier fill.
One other thing with the kit is that Tamiya missed a lot of detail off of the superstructure decks. Maybe have a look at White Ensign Models. They do photoetched deck plates to detail the superstructure.
