Greetings,
Does anyone know of any available models of the USS Utah, sunk 7 December 1941? I've always been rather amazed that after 65 years, there still has never appeared to have been a model produced of the vessel--I hope I'm wrong. 62 men died on that ship that day (no, wait..."56 men and 6 Officers", as sources say, as if the officers were of another species).
My late father, Robert (died 1999) was a Pearl Harbor survivor, and managed to escape the ship moments before it capsized and sank. There is a well known photograph, taken from a Japanese plane, of the Utah listing heavily to port after it was torpedoed (almost immediately after the attack began--the attack started at 7:55 am; the Utah was a total loss by about 8:12 am). I have always imagined that my dad was in the photograph, some tiny little dot in the water, swimming to shore, narrowly escaping bullets, as the Utah capsized.
I've always wanted to build that ship...I'm not tremendously into building warships, but I would certainly make an exception if I could find the Utah.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.
