I thought I'd mixed it well enough, but the finish is glossy, which the article said indicates not enough mixing. Just shows how great this forum is!

I have used WEM paints with great sucess. One thing that you must do is to STIR the paint VERY, VERY Well. Not just shake the tins. I used Model Master thiners and they worked very well.

Have fun. I hope this helps

Isnt' "Model Master Thinner" 'Enamel Based???'

"

Thinning:

These paints can be thinned with regular paint thinner, Mineral Spirits, or Lacquer Thinner."

That comes from the 'WEM' site.

Enamel thinner and lacquer paints dont' mix.At least I could never get it too work?

Also...He stated he had seperation in a month, after thinning...Maybe thin only what you are going to use in that sitting?

See John Sheridan's article on Colourcoats paints at SteelNavy.  In it John compares different thinners.

In this instant gratification world, I too have noticed a slight slowness in the paint to harden if my mix is off.  But with practice I have found that CC paints spray very well,  cover, dry, and have an excellent choice of color accuracy

A Little Help with WEM Painting
Posted by cruichin on Saturday, February 24, 2007 10:06 AM

Hi All,

I've been an acrylics only guy until yesterday when I sprayed my first WEM 507B on a test KGV 1/700 model. I thought the paint was a little thick out of the tin, so I thinned with a couple of drops (approx 1:4 volume) with MM thinner. Thirty-six hours later, the paint is still tacky to the touch. I painted in a room temp, low humidity environment. Is this normal, or did I screw the pooch with the thinner? Is there a better way to use the paint - the color (colour) is great!

Thanks,

Steve
