Hey all! I've recently stumbled into the wonderful world of scale modelling and have been loving every second of it.
The other day I was at my Grandfather's house and I saw an old photograph of a old ww2 frigate, the HMCS Swansea.
He told me this story about how his great grandfather had commanded the ship and how at one point during the war had run accross a German u-boat and being out of ammo, proceeded to ram the sub. The sub was sinking and the Swasea braved the possibility of a torpedo from a another sub and rescued the survivors.
This really inspired me to make a diorama of this event, but I can't for the life of me find any good reference photos or accounting s of this event... So I have a few questions.
1. What scale would be the best for this? I mostly do 1/48 scale armor and aircraft and have never really attempted a ship. Also, do you recommend a certain kit that I can convert to this specific ship?
2. Anybody know of a good site for refrences of ships? Or even specifically of this ship?
Here's a pic of it:
