                        BTW my Yamato in 350th scale has a much more (yellow woodish ) tone to the deck. Then weathered.

                        No ....flat will not help even it out....however there is no reason you can't get a good finish for a deck in that scale using a brush..................wood decks have many tones, and will look more realistic if you vary the tones slightly from the base color, over different light coats.

                         

                        Try to experiment on a piece of scrap plastic. Base coat brushed on first, then some varying of color, here and there on the deck.

                        <> Use good red sable brushes!

                        Tom, don't have an airbrush and that particular MM color isn't available in spray cans.

                        How about stripping it and spray-painting it with the MM product?

                        Found a pefect Model Master enamel, FS30117 Military Brown, to do the wood deck on my 1/700 Yamato. Problem is, hand painting made it look too splotchy. I can't seem to find a spray can color to match, any suggestions? The primer is light gray enamel.

                        BTW, would hitting the deck with some dullcoat clear even out the splotchiness ( is that a word)?

                        Or any suggestions for re-stripping, and a different hand-painting technique for an even finish?
