Still Working it.... More Corsair Progress
Posted by Duke Maddog on Thursday, June 21, 2007 2:04 PM

You all remember this? Thanks to afellow modeler on the LEM named Ed and his free Humbrol paints, I got a decent tan to use for the masts and smokestack, as well as other parts. The cabins, masts and stack are all just test fit, not fastened down yet:

I'll hopefully be working this one a bit more this week; I'd love to finish it for Nationals!

Well, that about covers it for now. Thanks for looking and comments are welcome!

Looks really good so far Maddog. I fancy trying a boat or a sub at some point. If it looks half as good as yours is now ill be well chuffed.

I got this kit at the kit drawing at last years Nationals and can't wait to start it.  I have been at a loss on where to begin as far as painting it and not making it look cheap, but by seeing your pictures, I just might have some ambition to begin it now.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Scott, I'm glad you have some ideas from my work. I used the little square bottle Testor's Gloss Brown for the mahogany cabins and rail tops, and Testor Model Master dark Tan for the deck. I will maybe give it a dark brown wash, and probably also dry-brush the deck with some light tan/grey rto see if I can make it look more like wood than tan-painted plastic. I'm still working on figuring out the best ways to paint some of the details that are not called out on the instruction sheet.

Have fun with your Corsair Scott, it's a great kit to build!

BEAUTIFUL looking boat, you have given me a lot of ideas to use on mine when I start to build it. Can't wait to see more shots of your efforts.
