Russ,

Thanks very much for your reply. The ship is BlueJacket's USS Samuel B Roberts (DE 413).

Just received the kit a few days ago and have been reading the instruction manual that Al Ross did for them. It's very well done and easy to understand IMO. Having read them through once I am starting throught them again to make sure I know the sequence of construction that Al wants you to follow and that I understand how to do each step.

Patrick:

That's correct.

There are three views on a lines drawing. The body plan has the cross section curves that are aligned with the vertical station lines on the side view (sheer profile). Mark those station lines on your hull and then you can cut your cross section templates from the body plan and use those to guide shaping the hull. Place the cross section template at its corresponding station line on the hull to check the shape of the hull at that point. Do this with each cross section template, checking often as you shape the hull.

Just out of curiosity, what model are you building?

In using a hull template, starting from the plan, I assume that you copy the hull template to poster board and then cut a template for each matching curve for each station location so that each template can be placed against the hull at its appropriate station mark that you have transferred to the hull stock. Am I in the ball park?

Thanks for your help.
