US Army Transports question

Grover's Army Ships and Watercraft of World War II does not list any USAT by this name.  More than likely, you're referring to ADMIRAL C.F. HUGHES (AP 124), a Navy troop transport transferred to the Army post-WWII as GENERAL EDWIN D. PATRICK.  This vessel was a P2-SE2-R1 built by Bethlehem at Alameda and commissioned 11JAN45.

which lists a number of US Army vessels. I did not see the ship you mentioned but the name you were given may be incomplete. Other portions of the site may have what you are looking for.

The experts may know of a model, but it escapes my amateurs search. One of eleven in her class.

I think I'd be tempted to start with a Loose Cannon USS Artemis.

It will get you a similar hull, superstructure, two-stacks ...   You'll need to scratch build the goal-posts and do something about the boat load-out (delete, change) to make an AP out of the AK

May I ask, did Neil ever build this model? I would like to do what he proposed but I wonder - what's new? I've never ventured far from building the model exactly as designed!
