Voyager 2

Here's a 1/72 scratchbuilt model of Voyager 2 that I built in 1989.



I used a lot of reference from books and NASA factsheets and I think I came quite close to what the real probe looked (and still looks!) like...

The main dish is cut from a soda bottle.. Remember in those times, pop bottles (well here in Europe anyway) came with a black plastic base that concealed a nice rounded bottom...? This particular dish cam from a 1 liter Schweppes bottle... . The most difficult part in this model was (obviously) the making of the main instrument boom, in this case built from a very large number of tiny sections of plastic rod... Nowadays, this would be much easier to make, even with my rudimentary PE making skills...
