LIftoff.  We have liftoff!

It's just great to watch this. USA is back in the game.

I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. The liftoff was awesome.

So cool. We are doing it ourselves and not paying Russia for U.S. astronauts to hitch a ride to the Space Station.

We live 60 miles inland from The Cape so we get to see history happen everytime there is a launch. Haven't missed a launch since the first Shuttle launch in 1981.

We sat outside this evening looking out over the atlantic, it has been a gorgeous day and the sun was still bright and the sky was blue, so unfortunately we didn't catch a glimpse. 

Unfortunately once again there was just enough clouds to block the view.  My neighbor a couple doors down was having a pool party when they launched.  I just walked out my front door.  I didn't see the rocket but the party goers were a bit entertaining.  They piled out of his garage and fenced in back yard and started looking around.  A few looked south toward teh airport saying they could see it and a few others asked what people were looking at.  It sounded like they had no clue and most likely didn't care.l

About five minutes later I was in the kitchen watching the first stage heading towardes the robot ship when I could hear the sound of the rockets rumbling through the area.  You cvould almost feel teh sound waves. 

It's been a long time.

Elon Musk and Space X score another success!

Commentator on MSNBC made an interesting point.

Those of us born in the 50's were taken back to a time pre-Shuttle when this was space travel.

Got to watch this on Space.com this afternoon.  Interesting that they brought the capsule down in the Gulf of Mexico, off Pensacola.  I don't think any of the early spacecraft landed in that area.

Noticed that today on August 2nd, 1971, the first televised lift-off from the moon of Apollo 15 was broadcast.
