I just finished building this kit myself. I was very happy about how it turned out. Nice tight fit and looks great. For $8.95 just can't complane. Took me about an hour to put it togeather, now it will probably take 3 months to get it painted. Big Smile [:D] Waiting for a set of much better decals to come in.

Very nice build, definitely doesn't look like your typical snap together models!

Thanks for the comments. It was a cool kit. It's tought to see the kit inaccuracies in the scheme I have used, but I think it would be easier to see in the German camo scheme.

I've seen several other Pegasus kits, they are pretty nice. The WoW is apparently pretty good, thought I have only seen the pre-painted one.

My compliments on the build.  For the AMS afflicted modeler like myself, the kit does have some challenges, primarily with the accuracy of the panel lines.  Overall shapes are good but I have noted:

-The fins need a bit of minor refinement to correct the leading edge angles and the shape of the fin fairings.

-The "motor" area needs some detailing as the exhaust cone is non-existant.

As noted, the kit is easy to assemble, has a tight fit, looks good, is cheap and readily available.  Not noted is that the markings are provided as both water-slide and "sticker" type transfers (nice & thin) for a German production round plus spurious "kid friendly" iconic 'clip art'.  The panel line and rivet detail is inaccurate by way of proportion & placement - though it was a good try, since most panels are depicted, if in the wrong spot.

So, overall an excellent beginner kit (fast build, cheap) and an excellent basis for the accuracy geeks who have real problems locating the "other" 1:48 V2 kit from Mauve (which is accurate but expensive besides being rare!)  In short, I like it, just as I like the other kits Pegasus makes in this range.  And have you seen the "War of the Worlds" 1:48 scale flying war machine?

Regards, Robert

Thanks!  I'm going to order one of each from Great Models.  Hope to be able to post pictures soon (after I figure out posting pics to the forum).  Cheers, Rick

Hi,

Very nice build.  Thanks for sharing!  Have you seen this kit online as well?  Do they make a V-1?

Thanks, Rick

Cool looking build.

I keep looking at that kit in my LHS.

Having seen how good yours looks, I'll have to pick one up.

Six Hour V-2

Here is my take on Pegasus Hobbies 1/48 V-2 Rocket. It ia painted with Tamiya white primer, Testors Flat Black, and Krylon Olive Drab sprays, along with some Alcad. The markings are dry transfers from ChartPak, left over from years ago.

The kit itself is a gem! Very surprising for a snap together kit. It built up nicely, I only had to use a very small mount of filler in 2 places, and that was where I removed the part from the sprue. The plastic is very thick in most places, but it doesn't affect the construction or final apearance at all. It was a quick build; I spent about 6 hours on it total, from opening the box to completion. It is a nice size rocket, coming just under 13 inches when on its base (just under 12 off it).

I based the it off of several different pictures of White Sands rockets to come up with my own marking scheme. A paintjob exactly like this may have never been applied, but it looks the part. Unfortunately you can't see it well in the pictures, but the seperation line and the nose cone are both painted in Alclad Jet Exhaust.

Without further ado, here are the pictures of my White Sands V-2...

EDIT: Forgot to add... It only cost $10 at the LHS, so it's a pretty good deal.
