Is the Mirage F-1 in the photo the model you built or the real thing?

Chrisk, it is a 1/48 scale model in completely fictional markings (homemade in this case).  It's the Italeri Mirage F-1.   It was photographed at our small-town airport in Cameron, Texas.   Here's the original "scoop" on her:

I've only tried it one time, but mixing a little Model Master Teal acrylic with future, and then dipping the canopy,  produced this effect on my Mirage F-1.  I think I could have gone heavier with the paint but I was a bit tentative about the whole thing.

I use grocery store food coloring mixed into Future.  Works for me.

I recommend using either Tamiya or Mr. Color clears thinned about 50/50 or more with their own thinners.  Typically, using something like 4 parts smoke and one part yellow gives you a color that looks pretty convincing.

What I do is I spray it on the clear parts using several light coats and build it up slowly.  Thinning it down alot helps it to spray on wet.  Just be careful to keep the airbrush moving so that you don't get runs.  If you spray it on and you think that it isn't clear enough or its a little foggy you can polish it to a nice clear.

I have saved several clear plastic containers from various products like the clear plastic packaging that Brassin resin parts come in, for example.  I use these to practice painting the clears and to make adjustments to the ratio of paints to make sure that the color is what I want before spraying it onto my canopies.

Dip in future ( or equivalent) with a few drops of your colour of choice mive in to it.
