After applying the flat finish, you can brush some Future on the mud to give it a "wet" appearance.
Duct tape is like the force. It has a dark side & light side and it holds the universe together.
I make my mud with a combination of Future and sifted dirt from my yard. After everything else is painted and dried I paint my mud, Raw Sienna for a dried look, or Burnt Umber for a wet look, if I want a really wet moist look, I will use Future on the Burnt Umber.

I've seen that done and the effect looked pretty good in the video.
I pobably do it wrong, but I use actual dirt to make mud and bind it with future, thinned Mod Podge or white glue.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Make your mud mix using inexpensive craft acrylics for coloring the brew and throw in some Future which will act as a setting base and will give you a wet look as in fresh wet mud.
If you rather use enamels then do so and when dry, brush on Future or acrylic gloss gel from HL.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Can you just put a coat of gloss brown over it?

JohnMatt Tojo72 Also if you want quit wet look, then you would need to gloss the mud. That's what I was thinking. Is the problem that the mud looks dry?

Tojo72So all you did is mix pigments and plaster, then you would need some sort of binder like water or resin.Plaster would lighten the mix, darker pigments for darker mud. Also if you want quit wet look, then you would need to gloss the mud.
Any recommendations for a product that can create a dark mud effect? I want the the effect to be as if the vehicle just rolled out of a mud pit. Ive used ak interactive plaster base mixed with ak's earth effects, fresh mud, and dark mud. The effect is quite dry for all 3 of them. Ive only used them separetly, never tried all 3 combined. Ives also have never put water in the mixture. Should i add a dark pigment? Any help would be appriciated thanks.
