Liquid mask

Honestly I've had no luck with liquid mask, alway causes me more headaches than it solves. Since flat paints are more grainy than gloss it is possible that the mask sinks into these imprefections making it harder to remove.  Lately I have been using silly putty to mask and protect from overspray as well as tamiya tape.

Interesting thread . i can see the advantagous use of liquid mask and wondered if there was a better product out there. I used "The Deailer" liquid mask and it stained my clear parts purple. Luckily i only used it on an interior bulkhead window and some small port hole windows on my B-26.

I only use Micro Mask on clear bits, or bare plastic that I mask to temporarily keep clear of paint. But I do have a couple that are VERY old and still work well.

It's water soluble, so maybe you could just wash it off with wet cotton buds, (Q-tips,) after the paint has set up well. Once you have an edge lifted, you could perhaps just keep working the water under the layer. The paint on top of the mask, would prevent water from dissolving it from the top side.

I've had my bottle of micro mask for a long time. I only use it on canopies, so can't comment on flat or gloss paint. But i do always apply to coats and lay it on ba bit thick.

Micro mask is what I am using too. Does it get old, because mine is not doing well? Also, how thick must it be applied?

I have used micro mask blue liquid mask on both gloss and flat surfaces with no issues.  Simple rubbing with finger or soft eraser/blue tack rubs the mask right off.

I don't know, but I have never had any luck getting it off anything, including clean clear plastic canopies.  Due to the disasters I have had, I have quit using it for anything.  It would seem like a good idea, but I have tried several brands and have had no luck with it.
