It worked!

Just a note route 62 that the heated clear sprue pushed  through a drilled hole in a PE fret worked very well to fabricate this part.

I checked a few drill bits against the hole in the car door , got the right size bit, then drilled a hole in an old Italeri PR fret  (the Italeri PE is thicker than most), then I heated the clear sprue over a candle and pushed it through.  The result is a perfect round small light.

Little bit of a learning curve to get the clear sprue heated just right,  but it just took three times, to get a perfect part.

Brilliant.........I'll try the soft heated sprue through the tiny drilled hole.

Never would have thought of that!

Thanks route 62

Using a thin piece of metal, similar to the thickness of a photoetch sheet, drill a hole in the metal sheet the same size as the part.  Soften a piece of the clear sprue over a flame, press the soft end of the sprue thru the hole to create a tiny "rivet".  You can then cut that tiny part of the sprue.

Another way is try streched sprue.  Stretch some clear sprue to get the right diameter.  Then soften the end of the stretch sprue and press on a piece of glass to flatten and widen the end.

Another idea, if you have a mini punch set, you could punch a disk out of clear plastic.

Would a small jewelry bead or crystal work?  Use the bead or crystal on both sides to make them match.

Fabricating tiny clear parts from clear sprue (auto modeling)

I recently built a 1/24th Tamiya Laferrari and one of the tiny tiny side door clear parts went flying out of my tweezers lost forever.  Any ideas how I can make a replacement out of some clear styrene sprue?  I would have to be able to file the tiny front of it flat like the original.  Photos of the part below.  I have since learned to tape the part then cut from sprue, then attach part with CA..when CA is dry remove the tape.

But for now I need to replicate the part

Thanks for any ideas
