I don't weather with oils prefering pastel chalks. How ever, pastels tend to badly wash out if you weather to where it looks just right and then put a clear coat over them. So you end up putting what looks like way to much on (tends to look really crappy) but when you apply the clear coat it usually comes out the way you want it. (takes some experimenting until you perfect it though). You might try that with your oil paint.

dull coat killing oil wash?

Hello all,
I was wondering, everytime I apply an oil wash to a plane, let it dry and then put on the final dull coat, it seems to almost wash away all the work I did. This last one, I even let it sit for 48 hours before the dull coat.

I am using grumbacher oil colors over future floor wax (usually 2 coats) then using Testors Dull coat Laguer (I dont put very much on either)

Is anyone having this happen to them too? Or am I doing something wrong. Again, I still have some weathering on the plane, but not nearlly as much as before the dull coat is applied.

Thanks.
