The only real difference between Testors Thinner, and th ekind you get at the hardware store is that Testors is a higher purity... but you'd probably never notice the difference.

And for cleaning.. no difference at all. I use Testors thinner for thinning, and hardware brand for cleaning. The Testors stuff lasts a long time that way.

Absolutely! I've used laquer thinner for cleaning and thinning Model Master enamels for years with no problems at all. Turpentine and mineral spirits
work too but not as well in my opinion. All three also work with Humbrol and
the small Testor's enamels. And, like you said, the hardware store solvents
are WAY cheaper than hobby shop solvents.

Enamal paint thinner

I was told that I could use thinner from the local hardware to thin and clean model master enamal paint, instead of the high doller stuff at the hobby shop. Can anybody back this up ? Thanks.
