Detail Master makes turned aluminum distributors and has the wire you will need. It comes in a few colors or can be painted. If you are building something that is basically stock I would definately use the kit distributor drilled out, if its something thats is supposed to have a modified engine the turned aluminum one looks like an aftermarket MSD unit that may be more accurate. My local Hobbytown carries all of these items so they are not hard to find.

I always used the kit supplied distributor ang using a #72 or#76 drill bit in a pin vise, drilled out the holes for the wires. Then I used aftermarket scale spark plug wire to dress it up. I haven't done cars in a while so I forget where I got the stuff from but the name Model Empire comes to mind. For additional info you might try the Scale Auto forum as I'm afraid I'm not too deep into cars so I can't be of much more help. scaleautomag.com/sca/community/forum
