Problem with wash technique !

Sounds like maybe you could use a bit more dish soap in your wash mixture. I use that sludge was, and found I needed a bit more soap, after adding it, it comes off just fine for me. I use a damp q-tip to remove it. Try putting a bit more soap in, a few drops at a time, and test on an old model or something. keep adding until you get it where you want it. Hope everything works out for you, no matter what method you end up using.

I am using acrylic for the base of the wash. I tried to remove the excess wash after it dried (maybe 10 min.). The article mentioned removing the excess after it had dried as well. I was using just water and a Q-Tip at first to remove but then I tried alcohol and that wanted to lift my paint job. MartyM2828

What medium are you using for the wash? Is it Acrylic, Enamel, or Oil. If you are using Oil (my favorite), you will need to apply your wash, then using a cotton swap dampned with thinner..you can remove the wash from places where you want to remove it from. Not sure why you couldn't remove it. Did you remove try to remove it right after you applied the wash, or did you allow it to dry?
