Wash question
Posted by morto on Saturday, September 6, 2008 10:24 AM

In preparing a wash solution, is it possible to use ground-up non-oil pastel chalk to obtain a desired color?  If so, what type of liquid should be used as the diluent. I plan on using the wash on acrylic paint.

 Thanks for any suggestions.

I meant the chalk pastels.  I didn't know whether they could be diluted with water.  Now I know and I will try and mix them with water and a small amount of dish detergent.  Thanks for your help.

You can mix different color chalks together in the water to obtain a different color just as you can mix paints.  This is handy for subtle shade differences.
