Alclad II question..help!
Posted by luis_42 on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 4:05 AM

Have any of you tried the Alclad Titanium Gold ALC-118? Is it shiny enough to do a shiny gold finish? not as bright as chrome but close enough.. I know they have the pale gold and it might not have the shine i'm looking for..

Thanks!

Luis

I think it should be pretty good. Also since it is a "regular alclad" then you can clear coat it. Experiment a little, you may want to try a clear yellow on top of it, or even Chrome with clear yellow on top, that may give you the color and sheen you are looking for. I think as long as you use a water-based acrylic (in thin coats) on top of thoroughly dry Alclad, you should be ok with clear coating almost all of them.
When I first started with Alclad, I cut up some scrap styrene sheet and shot little color swatches for practice. HTH
