What type of Revell paint do you have?

If it's the enamel, you might want to thin it a bit with white spirit.

If it's thier newer acrilic paint, thinning is not necassery beofre painting. But if you want to, you can, using water.

Paint is often dry to tuch in 6 hours, some people recommend waiting 24 hours so the the paint can cure.

The paint named on the outside are the major colors for the scheme. The paints in the instructions are also the paint colors for the small details.

The instructions will tell you what ratios to mix the colors. Mixing of colors is one reason why you see so many different ones in the instructions. What kit are you building? Knowing that would help folks here give you a reccomendation on what colors you really need. In my opinion, as long as those 4 colors are hull grey or light grey, hull red or an equivalent, flat black and maybe a tan if the ship has wooden decks, you should be fine.
