As the title above states, I have many different types of paints - acrylics, enamels and lacquers. I am preparing to do more airbrushing. As we all have our favorites, as well as different compressors, airbrushes and techniques, I realize that there are many variables., I would like to compile a list of your paints/thinner to paint ratios/ rough pressure ranges that you shoot at. I will use this as a starting point to work from with my own combination of equipemnt Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
David.
I use Tamiya Acrylics only. There are no perfect answers for any paint. Different colors require different thinning. For what it's worth, I thin to the consistency of 2% milk, typically between 60-80% paint. Lighter colors get thinned less, darker colors more.
Air pressure is another thing that gets compensated as needed. With my 100LG gravity fed I'm between 12-17 psi; my 150 or 200 siphon fed I'm around 15-20 psi. My 350 external mix clone is between 20-25 psi.
So long folks!
Tamiya Acrylic, 3 paint > 2 thinner, 15>25 psi dependent on job, through gravity H&S.
Alclad, I have a special arrangement - they thin it for me, 10>15psi through same brush.
Humbrol Acrylic - no luck - no matter what the numbers.
