I use isopropyl alcohol for my thinner in both acrylics and enamels.  Just make sure its 70 percent or you will have to thin it down with water.  Whats nice about it is the alcohol evaporates pretty quickly causing less runs in the paint.

I use the Testor's Universal Acrylic Thinner for MM paints, including the flat coat.

I have several types of thinner but the alcohol works great and its like $.97 for a large bottle.
