I've used the AFV tracks on a few models.  I would recommend painting the tracks with enamels.  I found that the tracks get handled alot.  Because the tracks move, I found that acrylic paint can flake and chip off.  That's why I use enamels.  I weather with acrylic washes.  Sometimes, using acrylic washes on armor can leave staining.  With tracks, I haven't had that problem probably because of the 3D nature of the tracks versus flat surfaces of the hull.  I would recommend if you do use an acrylic wash on the tracks, add a few drops of acrylic flow enhancer.  You can buy some at Michael's for about 5 bucks.  A good brand is Liquidtex.  It really helps.  I've started using acrylic washes on all my armor now that I found this stuff.

Thanks guys.

Stikpusher, that's the reason I wanted to know about the Pro Modller washes. Since they are water based I figured they would be safe for the tracks but worried about the acrylic paints.

Once whatever basecoat has dried and cured  you should have no problems using the Promodeler washes over MM Acrylics. The biggest concern will be however you choose to remove the excess wash off the tracks. The AFV tracks can be frail.

Hi!

What you are looking to do should be excellent. The pro modeller stuff is really good! I use it on almost every kit. You could seal the tracks after painting but before the wash with a thin coat of future to ensure that nothing adverse will happen. That is what I do.

I was wondering if you can use Pro Modeller washes over MM acyrlics?

I saw that their washes was water based. Here's the deal, I ordered some AFV Clubs tracks and I found out on here that enamel washes will cause problems on those tracks. The thing is I'll have to use acyrlic paint on the tracks then I would have to use some other wash besides enamel.

I had planed to paint the tank and tracks with MM acrlics then put a coat of Future on the tank so I can put the decals on. I then would use a coat of MM acryl flat clear to cover it all.

If I had to I could paint the tank with MM enamels and use the acrlics on the track but I would still have to come up with a acryl/water wash for the tracks.

Do you think any of this would work or do you have any better ideas?
