The good thing about SNJ paint is that it accepts masking (low tack of course) fairly well. You can buy the powder seperately. Paint with SNJ, let dry, mask, paint with alclad or model master, remove the mask, buff and you've got different types of aluminum finishes.. G.L.

SNJ can be used without the powder, but it gives a fairly flat, slightly grainy finish. You can buff it without the powder, as it is a fairly durable paint when fully cured, but it doesn't change the appearance much. The paint is really intended to be used with the powder, which tends to smooth it out and give a fairly realistic finish. The paint by itself is not a buffing paint like the Model Master products.

So we have no one here that has buffed SNJ without the powder? What's the purpose of the powder?

SNJ..without the powder?

Guys, I was able to pick up a bottle of SNJ at a LHS for fairly cheap. It is however just the paint. Can this stuff be used and/or buffed without the powder? Or is it mandatory for this stuff to buff? Thanks
