Need Advice On Spaybooth Ventalation

Hello, New to the forum here.

I'm wanting to get back into model building after long absence from the hobby.

I have been doing a lot of research on building a spay-booth, its going to be about 4' w x 2' h x 2' d, based on my calculations (from the Internet), Ideally I would need to have an airflow of about 800cfm. Now to do this safely, I would need 2 Dayton 485cfm Squirrel Cage blowers, about $300.00, yikes! Would this work ? It would be placed outside and I would use about 10 to 15 feet of 8" ducting through the window. I understand a little about static pressure, and I'm guessing it will still pull enough air for my needs, about 800cfm. I'm just concerned, will this blow up ? It says "Motor Type Totally Enclosed"

Hi  J&E,  You will have enough static pressure to tear the paint off your subject!  (kidding)  You will have losses with 10-15 feet of ducting but the unit is rated at ~ 1500CFM.  that is a bunch.  The motor runs at 3300 RPM so it most likely is an induction motor.  That means no brushes - no arching or sparking. . . it won't blow-up.  (I'm a mechanical engineer with a little bit of experience in air movement).  The worst thing that could happen is you collapse the duct work.  Integrate an adjustable vent if you are pulling too much air thru the box.  Good luck. Thank you for the reply Dennis. Yes, I plan to integrate an adjustable vent into the booth, to help regulate air flow. Thanks for the info on the motor, I was wondering if the motor was induction or not, I'm going to contact the manufacture to see if they can verify this.
