Question on airbrush types.
Posted by Geezer on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 12:36 PM

As a newbie, i started a thread on the "General Modeling" forum. Wow..... Milairjunkie had suggested a gravity-fed unit. My question back was

thanks for the info Milairjunkie. I think i've settled on the Badger TC910 compressor and am undecided on the airbrush - why gravity feed as opposed to the other types? Badger has two that are of interest - the 155 Anthem or the 105 Patriot..

Geezer

Gravity fed brushes don't require any pressure to siphon the paint form the bottle / jar, so as a generalisation they will operate at slightly lower pressure - this can help with detail work.

Gravity brushes are generally easier to clean & if required will also operate with a smaller quantity of paint (bottom feeders require more paint to ensure that the siphon pipe is covered & you are always going to be left will a little at the bottom of the jar/bottle).
