Tamiya is a little tricky to hand brush. You need to develop your technique for hand brushing Tamiya.

Polly Scale is another fine line of paints for hand brushing (and airbrushing).

Acrylics is definitely the way to go if you are starting from scratch. The only area where enamels have a definite advantage over acrylics is with metalic colors.

Enamels or acrylics will brush on just fine. Both acrylics and oils are good for painting figures. Keep in mind that thinning may be necessary to get good, even coverage with a minimum of brush strokes. Because you're brushing, exposures from organic vapors should be essentially a non-issue.

Brands would include:
Testor's enamal and acrylic line
Winsor and Newton for oils.
Tamiya acrylics are pretty fine pigment-wise and may be brushed with some success.

You didn't specify what you were painting, so color recommendations would be rather "iffy".

And welcome to the forum family!

I'm wondering what kind of paint I should get for just brushing on. Not airbrushing or something like that. Tell me what brand and maybe some colors.

Thank you. First postTongue [:P]
