Hi!

I use mostly golden taklon brushes. and yes the lacquer is hard on them after a while. But it will be hard on natural hair in time too. The brushes are fairly reasonable to replace and hold the tip a long time. The masters stuff does work very well. but it will not reclaim a brush too badly damaged. I use the same brushes for both types of paint. I just make sure to rinse with water right after the lacquer thinner and use the masters product on occasion. A tip with that, you need to "soap up" and rinse the brush repeatedly for best results. I leave the soap in on the last go to help condition and shape the brush tip. Rinse before using the next time. It will soften and help the brush keep shape as well as clean it. Try a smaller container and if you like it buy more. It certainly will not do ant harm if you are willing to discipline yourself to using it. Have fun!

Many synthetic bristles do not stand up well to lacquer or paint thinners.  SInce I paint with enamels I only by natural bristle brushes.  I find some synthetics work okay in turpentine but lacquer thinner is still hard on them.  But I don't want to take the chance, so avoid synthetic bristles.

So I have read a few different articles about paint brushes and some say that they use two different sets of brushes one for enamel and another for acrylic. I have also seen a video on YouTube out of the UK were he used Masters Brush Cleaner & Preserver to restore older brushes. My question is how many people have two sets of brushes for enamel and acrylic and has anyone ever used the brush cleaning solution? I have a decent amount of brushes and some are pushing almost 20 years old. I'm wondering if it is time to replace my brushes with new sets or if the one I have can be given a second life. What are the common sizes you all mostly use?
