Problem With Testors Model Master Flat Clear
Posted by pilotjohn on Thursday, March 5, 2015 9:02 PM

Can this product go bad?  I sprayed it over my model this evening and it is drying pretty glossy.  I am wondering what might have happened.  It is milky colored and still has a pretty strong odor.  Does it need to be shaken very well before application?  I usually use Vallejo Flat Varnish but I had a bottle of this that I wanted to use up.  Thx.

It should be well-stirred before use.

Thanks.  I wasn't sure about that.  I will try the last of it again.

John

MM flat acrylic clear is milky white but dries clear. I like to thin it with the Universal acrylic thinner.   What I suspect is that the chemicals were not properly mixed and they separated in the bottle. You need to stir it  as Gary suggested.

Usually even thick coats of dullcoat dry quite quickly.

Awhile ago Testors did experiment with some enamel versions of both the dull and gloss.  Maybe you got that version.  Many of us did not like that version very much and I don't see it on the shelves now.

Thanks for you replies.  I shook to daylights out of it and it worked fine.  Quite a smell compared to the Liquitex varnishes.  Same result though.
