it's been a while since i looked at any of the catalogs or websites, but you can also get decal sheets with stripes of varying thickness and color. Also I'm pretty sure SOMEONE makes solid decal sheets that are all one color - just find the color you want, cut the size stripe you want and away you go. I of course could be mistaken but Squadron mail order is probably a good place to start looking.

Decals are the best way. I use unused decals paint them nd then slice themup i thin strips. Tried painting them on with masking tape but need a stead hand.

Thanks for the help. I kind of thought decals would work. I know that there are products out there that allow you to make your own decals. Is there a company that would make them for me? Last night I did try using a black Micro Brush for the tips of the AGM-65's included in the kit and seemed to work well, although I do not have the most steady hands. On their web site, they do have other colors, not many though. It would be great if they could produce an " empty " brush where we could put in what color we need. With a little practice that kind of system would probably work very well.

Hi jpfracer, welecome to the forum, and welecome back to modelling.
I absolutely agree with you on the reference front, asking others is the best way to learn.

I don't have too much experience in your question, but I'll give you my two cents.
You can a) apply a basecoat for the overall colour, and allow to cure fully. Cut strips of masking tape, mask, and paint over with the stripe. Kind of tedious and very prone to errors.
The other way would be to use decals! Make sure you flat coat the whole thing afterwards to get a nice uniform finish

I guess after presenting a few questions to the members of this forum, I should introduce myself. My name is Joe and I live in Chester County PA and I am back to model building after a 14-15 year layoff. I build mostly military subjects and the occassional race car. Though I was not that good when I stopped model building years ago, I was " getting there" in skills. I am again working on my skills and have learned a great deal through this forum. This is the best reference info that one could find anywhere !!!! All one has to is ask. With that said...I am currently working on a Tamiya A-10A. What is the best way to paint the various stripes around the ordnance.

Sorry that this was a little long.
By the way...Operation Iraqi Freedom got me back to model building again. My thoughts, prayers and hopes of victory go out to our soldiers !!!!!
