Need Help with Airbrush
Posted by ModelMan68 on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 12:47 PM

Hello everyone,

Lately when airbrushing I am experiencing a small puddeling at the tip of my airbrush causing it to spray splatter every few seconds. I have been mixing the paint throughly and hopefully thinning it correctly. It only happens when I use Acrylics. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I think it's likely you have a cracked nozzle,  if you are lucky its just dirty.  What is your air pressure?

Could be low air pressure. .bent needle.? .needle seat out of shape. ??..sounds like too low of air pressure. .or it could be a bad O ring in the tip ..hope that works out. Pete

Andrew and Pete,

Thank you for responding.....at the time the air pressure was at 15 psi and the needle is straight and clean. The entire gun was clean. Did a full detail clean after last time I used the gun.

Some guys report having better luck at 20-25 lbs, might not help you if there is a problem with the AB, but worth a try.

It could be as simple as your needle not being fully seated at the "at rest" position.

It may also be helpful to get into the habit of starting your airflow with the airbrush pointed away from your model, then bring it to bear before starting the paint flow.
