I am nearing the decal phase of my latest build (the classic AMT TOS USS Enterprise kit), and am planning to first airbrush the model with a coat of Future to prevent silvering, as the ship's hull, saucer, and engines are based painted with a custom mix of Tamiya flat paints.
I have a half-full bottle of Johnson's "Pledge with Future Shine" Premium Floor Finish that has been stored out of the light inside a cabinet for I would guess about 8 years.
My question is, does Future go "bad" after a while? Also, is it supposed to be crystal clear and/or does it yellow over time?
Looking at it under a few different lighting conditions, it does seem to have taken on an ever, ever so slight yellow tint. Which is to say that is is practically clear, but not completely. At first I thought it might have simply been the plastic bottle it came in that yellowed, but when I decant the Future into a clear container, it still appears to have a very faint yellow tint. If you weren't looking for it, you might not notice it, but it's there.
Is this normal, or would you suggest I buy a new bottle of the stuff? I also have a bottle of Tamiya Clear Gloss I could use instead, but that bottle is even older. :)
Thanks for your advice,
Kizzy
