Iwata NEO bubbles in cup
Posted by tempestjohnny on Friday, January 26, 2018 10:31 AM

My NEO is bubbling in the cup until I pull the needle at least half way back. I have cleaned it and cleaned it again.  Is there an oring on the nozzle cap against the body of the airbrush. I don't have one can't remember if there was one. My thought is my cap is too close to body, therefore being a very tight tolerance around nozzle itself, restricting airflow around the needle until I pull it back.  I have tried just loosening cap but that just restricts fluid flow because of too much air getting through the threads.  Thanks for any suggestions

You probably have a clogged nozzle. Cleaning your airbrush thoroughly will eliminate 99% of all airbrush issues.

I don’t know if that’s the only issue. I keep working t keep my nozzle clean and have the same problem quite often. I’m generally using acrylics.

There is a tiny o-ring on the nozzle of the Neos.  If it gets damaged or is missing, you will get bubbles in the cup.  There is a photo showing it on this page.  If it is missing, try a little Chapstick or bees wax on the nozzle threads.

A split in the nozzle tip can also cause bubbles.  The Neo nozzle is fragile.

It is air being able to come back into the airbrush. It could be dirty, blocked, split tip, lost o ring, or just not tightened down. Somehow air is coming back up the needle. Caution, the tip should be screwed down firm, but be careful not to over tighten, the threads are delicate. That may also be the culprit.

TJ

I own a Neo and it has a VERY tiny red/orange o ring at the tip. If Don's idea doesn't work then go to HL to see if they sell the o rings. You may need to get a new tip anyway. They are easily damaged and will cause many issues. HL sells the tips and using the 40% discount coupons makes it relatively cheap.
