It is air being able to come back into the airbrush. It could be dirty, blocked, split tip, lost o ring, or just not tightened down. Somehow air is coming back up the needle. Caution, the tip should be screwed down firm, but be careful not to over tighten, the threads are delicate. That may also be the culprit.
