...What in your opinion is the best gloss coat product to use over acrylic to seal before using oil paint for weathering or using enamel weathering products. Something really bullet proof but allows the products to flow well and be wiped off easily.I have been using future...

Why change, then, unless you just want to try something different?  I use Future, too, as my gloss coat, and I use washes of oils and mineral spirits over it, without any problems.

Reminder that the OP was looking for a barrier coat over which to use oil paints. That in turn means thinned with mineral spirits.

I’d be pretty hesitant to use spirits over a lacquer coat.

I have attempted to use Aqua Gloss on several projects with less than stellar results.

I have, in a previous post likend it to wet snot, appologies for the rather untasteful analogy.

I don't have access to Future, so, I will continue to use Testors Gloss or Dullcoat untill a suitable alternative makes it self evident.

I have been meaning to try out Tamiya's X-22, from others experiences with the product it meant to be bullet proof when correctly applied and cured.

Good luck.

I also use Testors lacquer clearcoats- they are my goto for weathering over.  I use mostly enamel and lacquer paints, but I have friends that say they work okay over acrylics if the later are thoroughly dry.

Someone said on youtube (he was an alcad spokesman) that aqua clear was basically the same as Future. I'm wondering how true this statement is. I'll link the video below.

I think you have completely misunderstood what the speaker said. What he said was "that [Aqua Gloss] nullifies paying any stupid money for Johnson's Klear on Ebay or buying anything else. This stuff is simply the best." At no point did he say it was "basically the same" as future, nor does he come anywhere close to saying that. In fact, he is saying his product is better than Future.

If you’re going to be using oil or enamel weathering products, you’re going to want to use an acrylic gloss. My preferred brand for that is Future. But there are others out there that I can not vouch for or against.

Hi!

What in your opinion is the best gloss coat product to use over acrylic to seal before using oil paint for weathering or using enamel weathering products. Something really bullet proof but allows the products to flow well and be wiped off easily.I have been using future but have seen others use tamiya gloss an even Mr. Hobby color gx-100. I airbrush my gloss coats on. Thanks.
