You are right Greg.

This post should be under the 'Tools' forum Confused [%-)]Blindfold [X-)]

Mike:

Thanks for doing the e-shopping for me. I never would have thought to look for a "Tenax kit".

Yeah, I thought about that and actually made sure I didn't get stopped going home! I have a permit for the pistol, but not one for the hypo needle Big Smile [:D]

QUOTE: I don't understand about the plastic tubing. Wouldn't the plunger work ok? Don't you just draw the glue up or what?

Sure, it would work, I just didn't want that much. The plastic tube is open so when I dunk it in the bottle a drop or two will flow up into the needle, like an old quill-style ink pen. A little goes a long way with glue.

I told my dermatologist that next time she jabbed me I wanted to keep the needle. She wouldn't give me the dirty one but whe I told her what I wanted it for she gave me a clean one.

I cut the point off and polished it to a round tip, and stuck a piece of plastic tubing in the back for a handle. Works fine so far.

Man, am I glad I checked this thread out. I've been using straight Zap-a-Gap on a toothpick or sewing needle for 13 years. That Touch and go doohickey is my next tool. All I gotta do now is find one.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Jim,

I bought mine at HobbyTown USA but other hobby shops probably carry it too.
That picture that I posted was from Hobbylinc.com's web site and they sell it here:
http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/tnx/tnx101.htm

I found it for $5 less at this site: http://www.nscalesupply.com/TEN/TEN.html

Cool, Thanks for the quick reply Music City. Lately I've been using the Testor's Liquid in the black container with the red label for most apps. but I can see where you'd need better control in tighter areas. I also have access to hypos, so I might give it a shot. lol (No pun intended) Cheers -Spencer

It's a device for precise application of cements. Here is a pic of one:

You can see why I made a fake one out of a hypo needle :)

I don't have a Touch-N-Flow, so I just use an extra fine microbrush. Works fine to me, but I would like to take a TNF for a test drive one of these days.

SaltyDog> im like mike, you just gotta have the touch-n-flow applicator. kinda like a "welding rod" for your plastic welder.

No, I didn't. I didn't see one in their catalog (which doesn't mean they don't have them, only that I blasted through it too fast!). I have a phoney one made from a hypodermic needle that works decently. I'll scrounge a Touch-N-Flow sooner or later though.

QUOTE: Is the Tamiya thin cement the same stuff? 'cause if not, it works awesome as well!!!

Don't know if it is or not, but if so I understand why you like it.

OK, I'm convinced ... Tenax 7R is some good stuff. I'd seen several posts mentioning it, and included some on a Squadron order. Tried it tonight for the first time, and it is some good adhesive.

I did notice that it isn't a good idea to squeeze the parts together too hard, especially when they are halves of small tubes! Tenax 7R is a "Plastic Welder" and it does melt the plastic. Squeeze too hard and you get your parts flattened together Big Smile [:D]
