Use to have that problem. There was a tip on the site in which someone suggested to cut a thin strip off the edge of the tape before applying. I keep all my tapes just laying on their sides and I think it helps to get a thin smooth edge back.

Keep on modeling!

All the best,

William

Right!  After burnishing, brushing a thin coat of clear on the edge of the tape will seal it.  Let it dry completely before overcoating your color.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

I usually only brush small items and pick out details.

But a thicker coat will stay wetter longer, and could work under the edge of a thin tape like Tamiya.  You could try to brush a thin coat of clear on the edge first to seal it.

8 out of 10 times when I mask , paint seeps through even when I burnish the tape well. Is it because I brush paint which is thicker? When I airbrush the results are better but if I lay down too thick paint it also seeps through. I use Tamiya masking tape.
