The abbreviation, "NPT" stands for National Pipe Thread and it is the standard for pipe fittings in the U.S as you probably already know.
That fitting you are showing is a 1/4" NPT I believe as that is pretty much the standard size used on Badger, Paasche, and other air hoses where they connect to the compressor. Although they are called, "1/4" they are much larger than that as the NPT system is odd as are most thread standards for pipe threads. Who thinks these things up anyhow?
